The beaches are very clean fluffy brown sand -- very few shells, and no sea glass or whale dung. They work on them daily with front-end loaders to keep the sand where it belongs. But the breaks now are more dangerous resulting in more head and neck injuries for those that get themselves tossed around in the surf.
